Meet your professional safari jeep driver at your hotel for a 3.5 – 4 hour Half day safari tour of Minneriya National Park This park is world-renowned for “The Gathering” — a spectacular wildlife event where hundreds of wild Asian elephants congregate around the ancient Minneriya lake, especially during the dry season (July – October). As the sun begins to set, watch elephants bathing, grazing, and interacting on the open plains. Along the way, you may also encounter deer, monkeys, crocodiles, and bird species like eagles and storks. With some luck, elusive animals such as sloth bears or leopards might appear.
