An evening safari in Minneriya National Park offers an unforgettable wildlife experience, especially during the dry season (July – October) when hundreds of Asian elephants gather around the ancient Minneriya Tank — a spectacular natural event known as “The Gathering.” As the sun sets, visitors can witness herds of elephants bathing, grazing, and interacting in the open plains. Along the way, you may also spot deer, monkeys, crocodiles, bird species like eagles and storks, and occasionally sloth bears or leopards. The golden evening light enhances the beauty of the park, making it ideal for both nature lovers and photographers.
