Meet your professional safari jeep driver from your hotel at 6 am for full day tour of Hurulu eco park & Kaudulla National Park or Minneriya National Park.

A safari covering both Hurulu Eco park & Minneriya or Kaudulla National Parks offers a rich and varied wildlife experience, as both parks are part of the "Elephant Corridor" in Sri Lanka’s North Central Province. The main highlight is the chance to see large herds of Asian elephants, especially during the dry season (July to October), when they migrate between the two parks in search of food and water — often resulting in sightings of over 200 elephants in one place.
Beyond elephants, you may encounter a variety of other wildlife, including sambar deer, spotted deer, wild boar, toque macaques, grey langurs, and occasionally sloth bears or leopards (though rare). The parks are also excellent for birdwatching, with sightings of painted storks, pelicans, Brahminy kites, eagles, kingfishers, and endemic species like the Sri Lankan junglefowl.
Each park has its own charm — Minneriya is known for its ancient tank and open grasslands, while Kaudulla features more forest cover and a quieter, less crowded atmosphere. A combined safari increases your chances of wildlife sightings and offers a deeper appreciation of the region’s natural diversity.
When your tour is complete. Your vehicle will return you to your hotel or original departure point.

The prime months for wildlife viewing at Hurulu Eco Park are typically from May to October —this is the dry season, when water sources inside the park attract elephants and other wildlife in higher numbers. The best period to visit Minneriya and Kaudulla National Parks is during the dry season from July to October, when water sources shrink and large herds of Asian elephants gather around the tanks (reservoirs) in both parks. This seasonal event, especially prominent in Minneriya, is known as “The Gathering” — one of the largest elephant gatherings in the world, with up to 300 or more elephants seen in a single area.
For the best wildlife experience, especially for seeing elephants in large numbers, plan your trip between July and October, and allow flexibility to visit either Minneriya or Kaudulla based on daily elephant movements.

Recommendation

For the best chance to see large elephant herds, aim to visit between May and October during the dry season.
For a reliable time to catch migrating elephants, December and January also offer excellent observational opportunities.
If your travel dates fall between February and April, you'll still enjoy the setting, but wildlife may be more dispersed—longer safari times or a mix of parks might be needed for better sightings.

6.00 AM: Pick up at your hotel & visit Hurulu eco park & Kaudulla or Minneriya national park.If you take breakfast at the hotel. We can pick you up at later time depending on your location. Contact us for pickup times from various hotel location.
10.00AM: Drop to hotel to take rest till evening safari session. (Take Lunch by own & rest). Optional Tour: Hiriwadunna Village Tour with Lunch. At middle of the safari break from 9.30 am to 2.00pm (If you need extra tours).
2.00 PM: Pickup from Hotel & Visit Hurulu eco park & Minneriya or Kaudulla National park.
6.00PM: Drop-off your hotel.

At some seasons, there is less number of elephants can see in Minneriya National Park, So as that time we change the tour to “ Kaudulla National Park” or “Eco Park” as an Alternative tour option without additional fee to give a better safari experience. (No refund for Safari Tour Changes).
